Tajik Minister of Finance Meets IMF Staff Team on Cooperation


Avesta.Tj | 14.11.2014 | Tajik Finance Minister Abdusalom Qurbonov met here on Wednesday with Jonathan Dunn, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff team, Finance Ministry press service said.



During the meeting the sides discussed the current fiscal situation in Tajikistan and prospects of development of economic situation and risks in the country – economic growth, currency exchange rate, export, import.


They also paid attention to financial and banking policy, including improvement of activity of the Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk, monitoring state-run enterprises, fiscal risks of the financial sector as well as Tajikistan’s cooperation with other international financial organizations.


IMF team led by Jonathan Dunn arrived here on Nov. 6 to carry out constructive discussions with high-ranking Tajik state officials and, development partners, and the private sector.  The IMF staff team will stay in Tajikistan till Nov. 20.


IMF is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It has been established to foster international monetary consultation and cooperation with a view to maintaining global financial stability.


It provides policy advice and financing to members in economic difficulties and also works with developing nations to help them achieve macroeconomic stability and reduce poverty.


The IMF currently has a near-global membership of 188 countries. Tajikistan became its member on April 27, 1993.
