Tajikistan’s external debt amounts to over two bln U.S. dollars

Avesta.Tj | 26.11.2014 | Tajikistan’s external debt amounted to 2.1224 billion U.S. dollars as of Oct. 1 of this year, country’s Finance Ministry said Wednesday.


The government guaranteed debt amounted to 19.34 million U.S. dollars and the non-guaranteed debts of state run enterprises reached 31.5 million U.S. dollars.


Tajikistan’s debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for ensuring the payment balance amounts to 152.42 million U.S. dollars. The debt attracted by Tajikistan’s central bank amounts to 17.43 million U.S. dollars.    


External debt (or foreign debt) is that part of the total debt in a country that is owed to creditors outside the country. The debtors can be the government, corporations or citizens of that country.


The debt includes money owed to private commercial banks, other governments, or international financial institutions.
