Deposits kept at Tajik banks rise nearly 20 pct


Avesta.Tj | 29.12.2014 | Deposits by Tajikistan’s banks grew by nearly 19.5 percent in a year to Nov. 30, 2014, reaching 6.5 billion somoni, a National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT)’s report said Monday.

The report said the individual deposits account for 64 percent or 4.2 billion somoni of the overall volume of deposits kept at Tajik banks and corporate deposits account for 36 percent or 2.3 billion somoni. 

Local currency deposits carry a weighted average interest rate of 15.5 percent at the moment versus and 11.9 percent for foreign currency deposits.

Currently, there are 141 lending organizations, including 17 banks, one non-bank credit institution, 41 microloan deposit organizations, 43 microloan organizations and 39 microloan funds, operating in Tajikistan.
