Tajikistan’s gold mining companies sell 40 pct of precious metals outside country


Avesta.Tj | 14.01.2015 | About 40 percent of precious metals, produced by Tajikistan’s mining enterprises, were sold outside the country in 2014 and the remaining part – inside it, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies said Wednesday.

From selling precious metals Tajikistan earned 1,306,138,600 somoni last year and 1.0133 billion worth of precious metals were sold outside the country.

In January-November 2014, the mining enterprises produced a total of 1.674,8 billion worth of goods, which was 182.9 million somoni more than in the same period of 2013.

Tajikistan overfulfilled the precious metals production target by 17 percent and produced more than 3 tons of gold for the first eleven months of 2014, according to the ministry.

Over the reported period an amount equal to 456.3 million somoni or 97.1 million U.S. dollars was invested in Tajikistan’s mining industry, which was 46.3 million somoni more than in 2013.

263.2 million somoni or 56 million U.S. dollars were invested to modernization of the Tajik-Chinese joint gold mining enterprise Zeravshan Gold Company.

Tajik gold mining companies produced 1,141.10 kg gold for the first half-year of last year, which was 57.6 kg more than in the same period of 2013.

Tajikistan produced 943.6 kg silver for the same period, which was 43.2 kg more than in January-June 2013.
