Tajik president holds talks with UNDP head


Avesta.Tj | 09.06.2015 |Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and  Helen Clark the Administrator of the Unite Nations Development Programme (UNDP) met here on Tuesday.

According to the presidential press service, the sides discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and the UNDP.

Rahmon appreciated the UNDP’s support for implementation of economic, social and humanitarian projects in the country.

Clark, for her part, said that Tajikistan is one of active and members of the United Nations and underlined a special role of the country in solving global water problems.

The UNDP Administrator is the third highest-ranking official of the United Nations after the United Nations Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General.

UNDP is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from member nations. The organization has country offices in 177 countries, where it works with local governments to meet development challenges and develop local capacity.

UNDP has been on the ground in Tajikistan since 1994.
