UN representative visits Tajikistan’s foreign ministry


Avesta.Tj | 25.06.2015 |Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov met here on Wednesday with Alexander Zuev, the United Nations (UN) representative in Tajikistan, the country’s Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The sides reportedly discussed prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN agencies active in the country, as well the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) programs implemented in Tajikistan.

They also discussed the results of the international conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action, "Water for Life", 2005-2015, that was held in Dushanbe on June 9-11.

The UN has been present in Tajikistan since 1992, with the aim of assisting the government in implementing the Country Development reforms and provide support in achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

UNDP has been on the ground in Tajikistan since 1994, playing an active role in harmonizing the efforts of all UN agencies in the country.
