Avesta.Tj | 16.09.2015 |Saidumar Husaini, the first deputy chairman of Tajikistan's Islamic Revival Party (IRP), was detained here at the Dushanbe International Airport on Wednesday.

According to the source from IRP, Husaini was taken into custody when boarding a flight for Almaty.

Husaini is currently being held at a detention center of the Tajik State Committee for National Security. "No reason was given for why he was detained”, the source said.

In August 2015, the Tajik Justice Ministry banned the IRP and gave them 10 days to halt all activities.

The IRP was represented in the Tajik parliament for 15 years until its total defeat in the last parliamentary election in March.
