Zarifi said in Bonn on Rogun and energy issues in Tajikistan

Avesta.Tj | 06.12.2011 | Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi on December 5 in the framework of participation in the International Conference on Afghanistan held several meetings with the heads of delegations participating in this event.


As the Department of Information Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RT, in particular, held meetings and bilateral talks with Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov, vice-president of the World Bank for South Asia Isabel Guerrero, president of the Islamic Development Bank A. Al Madani, and His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan 4th.


In meetings and conversations with Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas of Tajikistan and the implementation of hydropower projects in the country.


Zarifi, in particular drew the attention of the interlocutors to the situation with energy supply in the country and the difficulties faced in the winter.


The foreign minister of Tajikistan, the close cooperation of Tajikistan with international financial institutions to implement projects in the country .


It was particularly emphasized collaboration with the World Bank on the conduct of the examinations of the project Rogun.


The Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of this work and hopes to complete the examinations as scheduled.


The Minister stressed the need for the construction of this and other projects for the country's energy supply and address the issues of acute power shortages for the population and industry of the country in the autumn-winter period.


He once again assured the interlocutors in the readiness of Tajikistan to continue cooperation with various international agencies and partners.


During the talks, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, also raised the issue of the project SASA-1000, which is important not only for Tajikistan but also for the region, including Afghanistan and Pakistan.


Hamrokhon Zarifi expressed hope that the initiatives in Tajikistan and understanding of the vital importance of hydropower for further economic development of the republic, according to Department of Information Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
