E. Rahmon and WB representatives talked about Rogun


Avesta.Tj | 14.02.2012 | On Tuesday, in Dushanbe the President of Tajikistan met with the Director of the World Bank's strategy and operations in the region of Europe Theodor Allers and the new Regional Director of World Bank in the countries of Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jaro.


As "Avesta" was reported in the press service of the President, in the course of the meeting the World Bank was thanked for their constant support of socio-economic development of Tajikistan.


According to the source, particularly, it was stated that currently, in Tajikistan 14 projects are implemented with the help of World Bank grants, the total cost of which is$ 190 million.


"The World Bank primarily supports the development of education, health, agriculture and energy in Tajikistan," - said the source.


According to him, Theodore Allers informed the president that between WB and Tajikistan reached an agreement on the financing another 4 projects which are worth $ 48 million, their implementation will start this year.


"The progress of techno-economic environmental expertise of Rogun project was also touched at the meeting", - emphasized in the presidential press service.


According to the source, indicating that energy is a priority area of ​​cooperation, the parties were speaking for the extension of joint projects implementation, to reduce energy losses, provision of alternative sources of energy, and hydropower development in Tajikistan.
