Minsk has supported the initiative Dushanbe for the construction of Rogun

Avesta.Tj | 31.10.2011 | Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who visited last week on an official visit to Tajikistan, supported the initiative of the Rogun hydroelectric plant.

At a meeting with teachers and students of the Tajik Technical University on Saturday Lukashenko said that Tajikistan is currently unable to ensure energy security without the construction of large hydropower plants.

"We spoke at length on this subject yesterday with my friend, Emomali Rahmon, and I also believe that we must build Rogun, because it is not only a factor of energy, but also for the overall security of Tajikistan," - said Lukashenko.

Belarus opposition leader called the neighboring countries on the construction of Rogun, no more than the "envy of the rich hydropower resources of the country," which as the development of these resources in the future provide cheap energy, not only themselves but also the region and will "get more profit. "

Lukashenko proposed to use in future non-traditional alternative sources of energy such as wind and sun. "You have 300 sunny days a year, you can put on each house for solar battery and provide themselves with light and warmth," - he stressed.
