Tajikistan Celebrates Day of Knowledge


Avesta.Tj | 01.09.2014 | Tajikistan celebrates the Day of Knowledge on Monday, more than 1.717 million students will study this academic year.


The President Emomali Rahmon annually meet with the students in this day. Today he will congratulate the students on the beginning of a new academic year at S. Ayni Tajik State Pedagogical University, located in Dushanbe.


September 1st – Knowledge Day is celebrated today across many CIS member countries and former Soviet republics: Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Armenia, Ukraine and etc.


It symbolizes the start of another school year for schoolchildren and teachers at schools and students and professors at universities.


This is the most anticipated holiday for the first grade students who will cross the threshold of their schools for the first time ever.


The first day of September also has a sweet tradition of the First Bell when a first grade student rings the bell signalizing the beginning of the school year.
