Book Week Opens at Tajik National Library


Avesta.Tj | 03.09.2014 | Book Week has opened at the Tajik National Library on Tuesday. The program of the Book Week includes different cultural and educational events that will run till Sept. 7, the National Library’s press service said on Wednesday.

The ceremony on the occasion of the Book Day, marked annually on Sept. 4, took place at the National Library.

Several library workers were awarded the title of Honorable Person in Culture of Tajikistan. The commemorative diplomas of the Cultural Ministry and National Library were handed during the ceremony.

The National Library of Tajikistan was officially opened in 2012. A nine-storey building with a total space of 45.000m² and containing approximately 10 million books is the largest library in Central Asia.

The imposing white edifice is situated in the centre of the city Dushanbe.
